Kai specializes in helping clients transform service operations into strong competitive assets and key profit contributors and optimize management along the economic cycle -shedding capacities while protecting capabilities and profit pools in downswings and setting the stage for rapid growth in upswings. He also works with management teams to develop global service strategies, value propositions and capabilities, improve performance or execute acquisitions. He is particularly interested in how to constructively manage tensions between product and service units, adapt global business models and offerings to local market needs and conditions and optimize service delivery along complex, multi level value chains and ecosystems -by both using technology and providing right incentives to various actors through contracts.
In a career spanning over three decades at ABB Asea Brown Boveri, Kai Olá was a key contributor in building that company’s service business into a world leading organization and one of the most admired in its industry. Progressing from a local business unit role, through national and regional management in Europe and Asia to head of all the Group’s service activities globally, Kai has led diverse service business lines ranging from spare parts and logistics, field service operations, global support units and complex integrated operations in advanced services, asset management and industrial outsourcing, developing and operating large multi-year contracts at client sites around the world.
