Dr Howard Lightfoot

Howard Lightfoot is a Si2 Expert in Servitization, Service Strategy and Transformation, Innovation and Technology.

Howard was Director of the Operations Excellence Institute and a Senior Senior Research Fellow in Service Operations in the Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre at Cranfield University, focusing on Product-Service Systems and the configuration of servitized manufacturing companies where he is considered to be a leading authority.  Prior to his academic career, Howard held senior operations and management positions with Marconi, the Volex Group and Matra-Marconi Space. He has also held board level appointments at several SMEs supplying the automotive, utilities, aerospace and defense sectors and has over 25 years experience in high technology product development and manufacturing with international business experience gained in Western Europe, USA and the Far East.

Over the past 10 years Howard has worked with the leading service-centric companies in his field including Rolls-Royce, Caterpillar, Alstom, MAN Bus & Truck, Xerox and Bosch, culminating in the publication of many papers and a major text book on Servitization.
