We work with or on behalf of managements, boards or investors to quickly stabilize performance of under-performing service businesses, units, major projects or contracts while developing a long term improvement or restructuring plan within the context of a client’s financial and timeline constraints.
Our work initially focuses on rapidly identifying major problem areas, losses and significant inefficiencies and on correcting immediate problems in indirect or direct cost structures. Our short term objective is to quickly rebalance value delivery and costs while improving cashflow.
The next steps involve deeper evaluations of functional, technical or operational issues and assessment of tactical choices and requirements to achieve sustainable cost competitiveness and improve performance, including: structure and profitability of offerings, operational efficiencies (procurement, project management, productivity, resource utilization, customer profitability, administration, controls and risk management). Finally we elaborate proposals and plans for longer term strategic development focusing on offerings and asset portfolio optimizations, market and competitive positioning, structure and implementation of robust systems and processes for superior execution. At the same time we address key issues such as potential need for “right-sizing”, determining appropriate engineering or operations depth and technological maturity.
During the duration of our involvement we work closely with key managers and employees to improve motivation, morale and confidence in the organization, to manage change and to instill the basis of a winning culture. Depending on size of company and scope of assignment our involvement is typically 3 to 12 months of intensive work schedule.
